The Base allows the user to associate more than a CAM to it. For this function you don't need any PC.
If connected to the PC, thought the USB Port, you can access to all the multimedia and maintenance functions.
Power Supply:
While in Stand-Alone you need a 12 Volts external power supply (non included).
If connected to the PC (USB 1.1 or 2.0 Port) you don't need any external power supply.
